John graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020. For his undergraduate research, he focused on engineering new catalytic and biochemical properties in proteins in Eric Brustad's and Marcey Waters' laboratories. John joined the Alushin and Liu labs at Rockefeller as a joint student in 2021. He is studying mechanical regulation of transcription using single-molecule techniques and cryo-EM. John is a student in the David Rockefeller Graduate Program.
