Anirban Chakraborty
MD-PhD Student

Anirban majored in biology and pursued undergraduate research in Dr. Qiaobing Xu's lab at Tufts University. In the Xu lab, he studied lipid-like nanoparticles (LNPs) for drug delivery, with projects ranging from synthesizing novel LNPs to delivering biomolecules into cells. Upon graduating in 2021, he joined Dr. Ira Pastan's lab at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, National Cancer Institute, NIH as a postbaccalaureate fellow. In the Pastan lab, he investigated novel mesothelin-targeting bispecific antibodies for cancer immunotherapy. Anirban entered the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program in 2023 and joined the Alushin lab in 2025. His current goal is to investigate T cell receptor activation and immune synapse formation with cryogenic electron tomography (cryo-ET).
