MD-PhD Student
Alfred Chin
Alfred double majored in neuroscience and biophysics and completed a masters in neuroscience with Solomon H. Snyder at Johns Hopkins University. His undergraduate research in the Snyder lab focused on inositol pyrophosphates regulating the sodium-potassium pump. He also performed undergraduate research with Albert Y. Lau focusing on molecular dynamics simulations of ionotropic glutamate receptor ligand-binding. Alfred began his studies in the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program in 2019 and joined the Alushin lab in 2021. He received an American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship in 2022. Alfred's current work focuses on the structural mechanisms of force-stabilized bonds (catch bonds) using TIRF microscopy and cryo-EM / ET.
